Punjab University announces holiday 9 November

An official holiday in honor of Iqbal Day has been announced by Punjab University.

The official announcement states that Punjab University will be closed on Thursday, November 9.

The public holiday on November 9 has caused a great deal of confusion among the populace. The main cause of this is that from 2015 to 2021, the Iqbal Day holiday was suspended.

Iqbal Day was made a holiday by then-prime minister Shehbaz Sharif on November 8, 2022. The Interior Ministry also declared Iqbal Day 2023 a public holiday later in December.

However, the public gets lost because of prior experiences.

In a different but recent development, Punjab University rose to the top of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024 by Subject, making it the greatest university in Pakistan.

Pakistani universities were ranked in nine out of eleven subjects. Punjab University was the highest-ranked university in Pakistan out of those, having ratings in seven subjects.
