To accommodate traffic, Lahore opens 3 lanes on Kalma Chowk

To accommodate a large number of vehicles, the National Logistics Cell (NLC) has finally built three lanes of the Kalma Chowk underpass and partially opened it.

The project will be completed in June 2023. However, NLC enabled the flow of heavy traffic seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, under the order of the provincial administration.

Three of the five lanes were finished in just two months thanks to the accelerated project schedule. NLC has urged commuters to strictly abide by traffic laws and observe the speed limit because work is still being done on the project’s remaining portion, to order to avoid any untoward incidents.

Akbar Chowk Project

For the construction of the underpass and flyover at Akbar Chowk, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has collected Rs. 3.1 billion.

The flyover will have two lanes on both sides and be 700 meters long, while the underpass will be 540 meters long. Residents of Faisal Town, Johar Town, Township, Kot Lakhpat, and other nearby areas will benefit from the interchange.

The new project will facilitate matters for the area’s daily transportation of about 100,000 vehicles. The project should be finished in three months.

Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, the chief minister of Punjab, is said to have given specific instructions to LDA to ensure the early completion of the Akbar Chowk project.
