In the qualifying round of the ongoing British Open 2023 on Monday, Pakistani snooker player Mohammad Asif defeated seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry 4-2.

Hendry played a break of 73 to get things going, leaving Asif in the dust with his skill.

Asif, a Pakistani, swiftly responded by winning the next three frames to take a commanding 3-1 lead.

In the subsequent round, Hendry demonstrated his status as the seven-time world champion by defeating Asif with a score of 74-43 in the fifth frame, cutting the Pakistani’s lead to one frame.

However, Asif did not let the pressure get to him and produced a break of 66 to square the game and win the sixth frame.

By earning a spot in the main draw of 64 players, Asif received prize money totaling £3,000 as compensation.

Asjad Iqbal of Pakistan will compete in the qualifying round on Wednesday against Tian Pengfei of China.
