Jimmy Kimmel receives flak for his awkward conversation with Malala Yousafzai at the Oscars

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the 2023 Oscars, got himself into trouble when he contacted Malala Yousafzai, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and an advocate for education, and sought her opinion about the Chris Pine and Harry Styles spit-gate.

The 25-year-old human rights activist was an executive producer of Stranger at the Gate, a Best Documentary Short Film candidate, and she attended the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday.

Malala was jokingly quizzed about the supposed spit-gate conflict between co-stars of Don’t Worry Darling Chris and Styles by Kimmel, 55, from her position in the crowd at the Dolby Theatre.

Kimmel addressed Malala and said, “Your work in human rights and education for women and children is an inspiration.

Do you think Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine? I was wondering as the youngest Nobel Prize winner in history.

Malala answered, “I just talk about peace. Kimmel remarked, “You know what, that’s why you’re Malala and no one else is,” before he quickly moved on.

Several viewers applauded her response on social media, and she received praise for her response.

Imagine speaking with Malala and asking her about Chris Pine and Harry Styles’ spat on Twitter, one Twitter user wrote.

“So did @Malala just get a question from @jimmykimmel about Harry Styles spitting on Chris Pine? Her reply was so clean and ideal “A third person posted on Twitter.
