Sources said on Wednesday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will hold its internal elections in 15 days and that the party has started preparing for them.
Raoof Hassan has been nominated as Chief Election Commissioner and Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as Chairman for the PTI’s intra-party votes, which could be held simultaneously across the whole country.
The party claimed the delay to PTI venues being “unlawfully blocked by the administration” and members’ commitments in their separate seats.
The Supreme Court ruled before the general elections that the previous round of party inter-party polls was invalid. Furthermore, the party lost its well-known “bat” electoral symbol. Before this, the party had postponed the February 2 polls till after February 8, one day after PTI had announced the schedule for new inter-party votes.
Reasons for the delay were provided by the party in this order: PTI venues were “unlawfully blocked by the administration” and members had commitments in their respective constituencies.
The Supreme Court decided that the previous round of the party’s inter-party surveys was invalid before the general elections. Furthermore, the party lost its well-known “bat” electoral symbol.
