According to News, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that a bone marrow transplant card will soon be available to help patients in the province receive treatment.
There are reports of 150 successful bone marrow transplants performed at Lahore’s Children’s Hospital under the chief minister’s initiative. For each procedure, the Punjab government is paying more than Rs4.2 million.
The first public hospital in Pakistan to provide bone marrow transplants is Children’s Hospital. Over 25,000 children have benefited from outpatient care, and 2,000 patients have received treatment in its cancer unit in the last year.
The success rate for bone marrow transplants at the hospital is above 89%, which is in line with international standards. The hospital has also treated patients from Balochistan, Sindh, and other provinces.
In Lahore, Afghan children in need of transplants have also received free medical treatment. The chief minister has ordered that no kid should be denied care because of budgetary limitations, according to Dr. Masood Sadiq, vice chancellor of the University of kid Health Sciences.
Additionally, patients receive follow-up examinations every 15 days, and the government offers free post-operative medicine.
“Every child is more precious to me than my own,” Maryam stated in a statement. Every patient has the right to free treatment, and the state will uphold its obligation.
She went on to say that families will no longer have to worry about money thanks to the transplant card. “There will be no compromise on children’s health, and we will allocate all necessary resources,” she emphasized.
