During an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Shakhas region of the Khyber District, a Pakistan Army officer was martyred late on Wednesday night.

According to a press release published by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, three blamed terrorists and their facilitators were also detained during the operation.

Major Shah saw a group of terrorists and stopped them as the security forces were setting up their positions to prevent the suspects from escaping. The ISPR was informed that the major was killed during a firefight, which followed.

Major Mian Abdullah Shah, a 33-year-old officer who was martyred in action, was from Kohat.

According to the ISPR, the region is being sanitized to get rid of any terrorists that may be nearby. The statement went on to say that Pakistan’s security forces were committed to putting an end to the threat of terrorism and that their resolve was strengthened by the sacrifices made by their warriors.

The ISPR reported last week that an IBO in the general vicinity of Inayat Qilla, Bajaur district, resulted in the deaths of three terrorists, including a commander.

According to the military’s media wing, there was a fierce firefight during the operation, and the dead suspects’ possession of weapons and ammunition was also found.

One terrorist was killed and three others were injured during another IBO in the Khyber district, according to a separate news release from the ISPR last week.
