Babar Azam, the star batter and skipper of the Peshawar Zalmi, created a record on Wednesday by becoming the quickest batter to score 10,000 runs in T20 format.

The first batter broke the record set by West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle, who reached the milestone in 285 innings, by accomplishing the feat in 271 innings.

Today, in the sixth game of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) ninth edition between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, Azam got his 10,000th run.

In the T20 format, the right-hander has played for 19 various squads, scoring 2,398 runs for the Kings and 3,698 runs for the national team.

In the shortest format, he is the only player to have scored more than 3,000 runs in the PSL and the 13th player overall to accomplish the feat of 10,000 runs.


With 14,562 runs, Gayle tops the rankings, followed by Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik with 13,159.
