The launch of a ground-breaking project, providing free WiFi at 50 strategic spots across Lahore, has been announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. build a more connected society, this ambitious pilot project aims to change citizen internet access.

CM Maryam Nawaz expressed her happiness at the launch of free WiFi services and reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to keeping her word.

She said, “The decision to introduce the free WiFi pilot project was forged during a high-level meeting between the Chief Minister and officials from the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) last month.” To ensure free internet provision, PITB has been entrusted with updating the current infrastructure, including hotspots.

The deployment of free WiFi services in strategic locations like bus stops, airports, train stations, and educational institutions has been given top priority by PITB, which is led by the visionary CM Maryam Nawaz.

An estimated 516 places in Lahore are projected to benefit from this revolutionary project, significantly increasing inhabitants’ access to the Internet.


This initiative is an amazing resurrection of the free WiFi services that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government initially introduced in 2013. Due to unpaid invoices, the services were stopped by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

 However, during CM Maryam Nawaz‘s administration, the vital service has been restored and improved, giving people access to connectivity.

A new era of digital connectivity in Lahore is being heralded by the effective management and operation of WiFi services, which are now under the control of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
