Punjab Undertakes Green Pakistan Initiative to Plant 3 Million Trees in a One-Day

The Punjab Forest Department has initiated a large-scale tree-planting campaign as part of the “Green Pakistan Initiative” to commemorate the 77th Independence Day.

This initiative aligns with the vision of creating a “Green and Prosperous Pakistan.”

In a first-of-its-kind effort, paragliders were employed in the hilly areas of Chakwal district to disperse 20,000 seed balls.

Additionally, in the Murree Division, helicopters, in collaboration with the SIFC and the Pakistan Army, distributed 20 kg of pine seeds.

The campaign aims to plant over 10 million trees throughout Punjab. In just one day, various government departments planted more than 3 million trees.

The Forest Department led the charge with 1.5 million trees planted, while the Education, Health, and District Administration departments together planted 1.4 million.

The Parks and Horticulture Authority also contributed by planting 100,000 trees.

Every planting activity will be monitored using geotagging and the data will be uploaded to the “Plant for Pakistan” app.

This initiative is part of a broader monsoon tree-planting campaign, backed by the SIFC, to promote a sustainable and green future for Pakistan.
