Punjab Makes Mandatory in Multiple Districts to Wear Face Masks

The Punjab government has made wearing face masks required for one week to lessen the negative effects of smog on public health.

Only the province’s smog-affected districts—Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, Sialkot, and Mandi Bahauddin—are covered by the instruction.

Residents of these districts are required to wear face masks outside between November 20 and November 26. This information was given by Mohsin Naqvi, the current Chief Minister of Punjab.

The CM stated that it is our collective duty to put first health in his tweet on X (previously Twitter). He also exhorted the populace to follow the rules to create a more secure community.

The provincial government has been taking several measures, such as the temporary enforcement of face mask usage, to reduce the severe effects of smog.

The government decided to close education in the districts impacted by the smog just last week. To further tackle smog, a crackdown on cars that spew smoke has also been started.

The quality of the air hasn’t much improved despite all of these actions and attempts. The unhealthy 203 air quality rating for Lahore was once again stated on Sunday.

Wearing face masks and using air purifiers are two preventive measures that experts recommend against choking pollution.
