Pakistan announces Hajj flight date

According to Religious Affairs Minister Talha Mahmood’s announcement on Sunday, the first flight carrying Hajj pilgrims would leave Karachi and Islamabad for Saudi Arabia on May 21, while the first team of assistance will depart on May 17.

The minister mentioned several facility delays during a press conference about the Hajj preparations.

According to him, the Hajj last year was simple because only 80,000 people made the journey; this year, 175,000 will make the journey.

He warned pilgrims to “be prepared for a difficult Hajj” and predicted that there will be challenges during the forthcoming Hajj, but he also noted that measures were being taken to lessen the obstacles that were expected to be encountered.

The federal minister encouraged people to point out any issues with the arrangements. He claimed that some pilgrims had complained to him at the Hajj camp about not having enough money for sacrificed animals. He continued by saying that the administration has set up a government-subsidized program to lower the cost of sacrifice for pilgrims.

The minister stated, “The government would pay 720 riyals on behalf of the pilgrims for the sacred sacrifice.

He described the costs in detail, stating that Makkah properties were rented out for 2,600 riyals in 2019 and 2,100 riyals in 2018.

He continued by saying that this year’s travel expenses are $900, down from $1,000 last year. He stated that we have finally finished the process of occupying buildings, which was supposed to be finished during Ramadan.

Minister Talha stated that 26,000 pilgrims will depart from the federal capital under the Road to Makkah and that migration will only be possible via the Islamabad airport.

Every pilgrim, according to the federal minister, will set off on the holy journey after getting instruction; otherwise, he issued a warning, and their timetable will be changed. He further asserted that each pilgrim would receive a free SIM card in Saudi Arabia in addition to the foregoing.
