Najam Sethi, the head of the PCB management committee, assured Babar Azam that he will captain Pakistan in the upcoming limited-overs series against New Zealand.
Sethi used Twitter to put an end to recent media rumors regarding the selection of certain players and the captaincy.
“Today, Babar Azam visited me. I told him that he would captain the U.S. squad against New Zealand in the ODI and T20 matches. The teams were then announced by @TheRealPCB. Thus, everyone who spread false fears has lost their jobs as of today “Sethi posted on his Twitter on Tuesday.
This means that after a period of rest during the Afghanistan series, Babar will resume his regular duties as captain during the ODI and T20I series against New Zealand. Shadab will revert to his previous role as vice-captain after leading the team against Afghanistan.
The team will meet up in Lahore on April 6 and the training camp will start on April 7.
